Singing Melody is one of Jamaica's foremost male singers /balladeers. A star in the Japanese, Caribbean and ethnic markets with thousands of albums sold to date, Singing Melody remains a unique artiste. His music is timeless, and it spans genres and generations.
The year 1999 was one of the most prolific in the career of this talented brother. His album "Sweeter" which was produced by the Fat Eyes Crew and which featured collaborations with Sly & Robbie, Fiona and others, was a big hit. The VP Records album generated hit singles with the title track, "Baby Tonight", "Serious Tragedy", "Let it Flow", "Crazy Love" and the smash #1 hit "Want You Back".
Born Everton Hardware, Singing Melody recorded his very first song "Tie Mi" for the legendary reggae producer, King Tubbys, back in 1987. Since then, he has not looked back. His work with producers such as Steelie and Clevie, Bobby "Digital B" Dixon, Edgar Parish, Jack Scorpio (Black Scorpio) and Top Ranking, quickly established him in Jamaica and the Caribbean. "Same Ole Love", "In this Together", "Shower Me With Your Love", "Groovy Kind of Love", "Whatever You Want", "Good Enough" and "Let it Flow" are among his list of hit songs. "Sayonara Tokyo", a song, which he recorded in Japanese, was released by Sony Music Japan, and quickly became an anthem in 1990.
In 1997, Singing Melody joined the group LUST. The group charted with "Flex Me" and a #1 smash "Sweetness of Your Love". Among his recent high profile performances and appearances are the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival, the Jamaican Film Festival (1999), the television series "Traxx", the New York Music Festival (1999), the 12th annual Tamika Reggae Awards, the 19th annual International Reggae and World Music Awards and the 2000 Reggae Soca Music Awards.
The multi-award winning singer recently copped the Martin's International Reggae and World Music Awards for "Best Music Video" (for the single "Want You Back") and Most Improved Entertainer. At the Reggae Soca Music Awards held in April 2000, his "Want You Back" hit won the Song of the Year title. He received several other nominations including Best Male Vocalist International, at the 12th Annual Tamika Reggae Awards.
Singing Melody is still reeling from a successful year. He was named "Male Singer of the Year" by the Excess Newspaper, one of Jamaica's leading tabloids, as well as the Daily Gleaner newspaper. His "Want You Back" which topped the Excess Top 20 for 4 weeks, was a number one hit on the X News Top 40. The single reached #4 and #3 on the New York Reggae Top 30 and Star Top 40 charts respectively. On the RJR Top 40, it peaked at #2.
Under the guidance of Sean Oakley of the New York-based LTM Management, Singing Melody's career is poised to take off to the next level.
